Merry Christmas from the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry board of directors, staff, and volunteers! We are only able to help those in need because of the generous donations from our community!
The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is open: Mondays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Food is distributed, and donations are gratefully accepted during business hours. We also have collection boxes in the vestibule at Fareway, NOSH and Inspire Continuing Care for donations. The Clothing room is open to all residents of Geneseo and Atkinson on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The Food Pantry will be closed on December 22-25, and December 29-January 1 for the holidays.
Because of the community’s generous support, the Food Pantry provided food and emergency assistance to 210 households in October. Food distributions in October were equivalent to 7,220 meals. As the number of guests receiving food is increasing, every donation is greatly appreciated!
The Food Pantry partners with Sole Relief and Wright Foot Left to provide two Foot Care Clinics each month except December. Please call 944-3165 or email geneseopantry1@gmail.com to make an appointment.
Thank you to all who contributed to the Henry County Farm Bureau Young Leaders food drive on November 4. 551 pounds of food was donated, which is roughly 459 meals.
If you, your family, business or organization would like to donate ingredients for a Christmas food basket for our guests, here is a list of what is needed: Turkey or ham, box mashed potato mix, gravy mix, French fried onions, French cut green beans, cream of mushroom soup, can sweet potatoes or yams, cranberry sauce, corn, creamed corn, corn muffin mix, pie filling, pie crust mix, stuffing mix, rolls, sour cream, butter, whipped topping, sparkling juice, and foil roasting pans for meat. Christmas baskets will be packed on December 15. These baskets will help stretch the budgets of those in need this holiday season. Anyone in need of a food basket should contact the Food Pantry.

Dietitians from Hammond-Henry Hospital taught a “Food Safety” class in the Matthew 25 Center at the Food Pantry. Check geneseofoodpantry.org for information about future dietitian classes, which are free and open to the public.
Food needs: 100% juice, coffee, low sodium chunky soups, crackers, and tortillas.
Non-food needs: Laundry detergent, denture cream, deodorant, lotion, and size 4, 5, and 6 diapers.
