April 2026

The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is open: Mondays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Food is distributed, and donations are gratefully accepted during business hours. We also have collection boxes in the vestibule at Fareway, NOSH and at Inspire Continuing Care for donations.

Because of the community’s generous support, the Food Pantry provided food assistance to 441 households in February. Thanks to the many donors who make this possible!

The Food Pantry partners with two nurses to provide two Foot Care Clinics to the public each month. Nurses soak feet, trim, and file toenails, help with ingrown toenails, and give a light foot massage with lotion. Please call 309-944-3165 or email geneseopantry1@gmail.com to make an appointment. Cost is $37 but Food Pantry guests are given a voucher.

A dietitian from Hammond-Henry Hospital taught a free healthy cooking class on March 24 in the Matthew 25 Center at the Food Pantry. Guests were provided with recipes for lower cost healthy dishes, a cooking demonstration, and free samples of healthy food. Check our website geneseofoodpantry.org for information about the next class, which is free and open to the public.

Do you want to achieve significant changes in life and receive help and support setting and reaching your goals? Then the Five Loaves program at Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is for you! Call 309-944-3165 or visit geneseofoodpantry.org for more information.

If your church is planning any summer events or Vacation Bible School, please consider including a school supplies drive for the Food Pantry. A list of school supplies needed can be found at: geneseofoodpantry.org. The Food Pantry has had an increase in students in need, and we depend on donations to provide what they need for school. Thank you for your support!

The Food Pantry has a computer for guests to use to sign up for aid, housing, search for jobs and complete job applications. If you need to use the computer for any of these reasons, ask at the front desk.

The Food Pantry accepts any size clothing, accessories, kitchenware, decorations, books, games, toys, movies, and other household items. If donors have large items they want to donate, we post the name of the item on the white board, and if someone is interested in the item, we give them the phone number of the donor to arrange pickup.

Our Volunteer of the Month, Theresa Taets, has been volunteering at the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry for two years. Theresa assists guests in the food room and also helps sort donations in the clothing room when needed. She has a husband, Chuck, and three grown children. Theresa enjoys volunteering, walking, reading, serving at church, and spending time with her family and friends. She said the best thing about volunteering at the Food Pantry is helping and interacting with people. Theresa’s most memorable experience at the Food Pantry was being able to give a hug and encourage a lady that was grieving. Another memorable experience is seeing how our community steps up when the Food Pantry was very low on supplies. She wants to thank all the Girl Scouts and firemen for that! Thank you for all you do, Theresa!

The clothing room is especially in need of: Children’s clothing all sizes, spring jackets all sizes, sheet sets and girl’s and boy’s underwear and socks.

Food Needs: Spaghetti sauce, sugar, frozen vegetables, cake mix and juice.

Non-Food Needs: Toilet paper, paper towels, body wash, baby wipes and deodorant.
