The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is open: Mondays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Food is distributed, and donations are gratefully accepted during business hours. We also have collection boxes in the vestibule at Fareway, NOSH and at Inspire Continuing Care for donations.
Because of the community’s generous support, the Food Pantry provided food and emergency assistance to 409 households in August. Thanks to the many donors who make all this possible!
The Food Pantry partners with Wright Foot Left and Sole Relief to provide two Foot Care Clinics each month. Nurses soak feet, trim and file toenails, help with ingrown toenails, and give a light foot massage with lotion. Please call 309-944-3165 or email geneseopantry1@gmail.com to make an appointment. Cost is $37. Food Pantry Guests are provided with a voucher.
Thank you to all the individuals, businesses and vacation bible schools for donating school supplies to Geneseo Schools students in need! Also, thank you to the volunteers who packed and distributed 122 bags of school supplies for Geneseo Schools students in need! This helped families stretch their budgets as they prepare for the school year. The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry continues to collect school supplies all year long, and we are grateful for every donation.
The next dietitian class will be October 14 at 1:00. Try new dishes, learn how to prepare them, and take home recipes! Everyone is welcome.
Our guests consistently need items such as: Toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, denture cleaner, and toothpaste. These are items that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits don’t pay for, and they are always appreciated. The Food Pantry accepts any size clothing, accessories, kitchenware, decorations, books, games, toys, movies, and other household items. If donors have large items they want to donate, we post the name of the item on the white board, and if someone is interested in the item, we give them the phone number of the donor to arrange pickup.

Our volunteer of the month, Diane Boelens, has been volunteering at the Food Pantry for one year. She assists guests who are shopping for food and helps sort donations in the clothing room. Diane has been married to Ken for 43 years and they have two sons, Cody and Dalton. She enjoys reading gardening, volunteering locally and internationally, traveling and Jazzercise. Diane said the best thing about volunteering at the Food Pantry is spending time with like minded people, those willing to help our local community. Diane said the volunteers and staff are willing to support the guests with respect, caring and understanding. Thank you for serving those in need, Diane!
