The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is open: Mondays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Food is distributed, and donations are gratefully accepted during business hours. We also have collection boxes in the vestibule at Fareway, NOSH, and at Inspire Continuing Care for donations. The Clothing room is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The Food Pantry will be closed December 23 & 24 and December 30 & 31 for the holidays.
Because of the community’s generous support, the Food Pantry provided food and emergency assistance to 318 households in October. As the number of guests receiving food is increasing, every donation is greatly appreciated!

If you, your family, business or organization would like to donate ingredients for a Christmas food basket for our guests, here is a list of what is needed: Turkey or ham, box mashed potato mix, gravy mix, French fried onions, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, can sweet potatoes or yams, cranberry sauce, corn, creamed corn, corn muffin mix, pie filling, pie crust mix, stuffing mix, foil roasting pans for meat. We also accept monetary donations to purchase food for the baskets. Christmas baskets will be distributed through December 27. These baskets will help stretch the budgets of those in need this holiday season. Anyone in need of a food basket should contact the Food Pantry.
Thank you to all who contributed 1280 pounds of food to the Henry County Farm Bureau food drive on November 9! Many thanks to Henry County Farm Bureau for organizing the Food Drive and delivering all that food!
We would like to introduce the new Food Inventory Coordinator at the Food Pantry. Jenn Pollard is accepting all your food donations, checking expiration dates, taking inventory, preparing food orders, organizing and keeping the food room stocked! She has two stepsons, two sons of her own, and three grandkids. In her spare time, she likes to take care of her garden, talk with her out of state family, and have bonfires. She was the produce/assistant manager at Save A Lot for 4 years. Welcome, Jenn!
Thank you to 5th grade students and teachers at Millikin Elementary who organized a sock drive for “Socktober”. Also, thank you to all the Millikin students and staff who contributed more than 2,700 pairs of socks! Wow!
Thank you to everyone who signed up to provide holiday gifts for families in need! 56 families applied for the Holiday Gifts program. If your family, group, or business wants to provide gifts for a family in need, please call 944-3165. Gifts should be delivered by December 16. The Food Pantry partners with local nurses to provide two Foot Care Clinics each month. Nurses soak feet, trim and file toenails, help with ingrown toenails, and give a light foot massage with lotion. Please call 309-944-3165 or email geneseopantry1@gmail.com to make an appointment. Cost is $37. Food Pantry Guests are provided with a voucher for this service.
