October 2024

The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is open: Mondays 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Food is distributed, and donations are gratefully accepted during business hours. We also have collection boxes in the vestibule at Fareway, NOSH, and at Inspire Continuing Care for donations. The Clothing room is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The Food Pantry will be closed November 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving.

Because of the community’s generous support, the Food Pantry provided food and emergency assistance to 252 households in August.  Combined food distributions in August were equivalent to 9,147 meals. Thanks to the many donors who make all this possible!

A Hammond-Henry dietitian will present a class about healthy cooking and eating on October 17 at 1:00 at the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry. Learn how to prepare healthy dishes, try new foods, and receive recipes to take home! This class is free and open to the public.

Our Volunteer of the Month, Shane Bagby, has been volunteering at the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry for four months. He assists guests in the food room, restocks shelves, and sorts donations. Shane has a dog named Cora. He loves reading and spending time with friends. Shane said, “the people that I work and volunteer with are the salt of the earth. Seriously, they’re incredible.” Shane said that one night while sorting donations, a fellow volunteer brought in a cake to share. He remembers how fun it was to eat, work, and chat with everyone. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, Shane!
